    Nick Says:

    The Telegraph one contains:

    ————-

One of the more unlikely donors was the religious think tank Theos…

Theos gave £50 to the cause as it believes the “weak” adverts will encourage people to think about God.

Its director, Paul Woolley, said: “Initially, we almost felt sorry for the campaign, as its difficulties showed that there were not many atheists in Britain, and certainly not many who were willing to put their hands into their pockets. But when we saw the message, we couldn’t believe it.

“Stunts like this demonstrate how militant atheists are often great adverts for Christianity.”

    ————-

I suggest perhaps giving their £50 back (currently the campaign’s nearing £77k). We don’t want your money if you’re going to accuse us of militance, Thor Theos!

    Jon Says:

    @Nick – love the comment…

Everyone thought 800+ atheists caring about this when we first made it public in the summer was a bit of a failure. Well, I think we’ve learnt our lessons and come back much, much stronger!

  22. 22
    Lijah Says:

What is the purpose of this campaign? Religion is breaking us, why not promote unity instead?
For us Christians let us not be worry about this as it is written in the book of life, that anti christ will come on the last days…. Let us pray for this people, and love them in return as Christ Jesus has commanded us to do so.

    ——————–

1 John 2:18-19 “Children, it is the last hour; and just as you heard that antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have arisen; from this we know that it is the last hour. They went out from us, but they were not really of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out, in order that it might be shown that they all are not of us.”

1 John 2:22-23 “Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son. Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father; the one who confesses the Son has the Father also.”

1 John 4:2-3 “By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; and this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world.”

2 John 1:7 “For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist.”

    Richard W Says:

I’d just like to draw your attention to this:

“The Atheist’s Guide To Christmas” is the UK’s first atheist charity book, featuring contributions from Richard Dawkins, Derren Brown, Ben Goldacre, Simon Singh, Claire Rayner, David Baddiel, Charlie Brooker and many more. It’s been edited by Ariane Sherine, the creator of the hugely successful Atheist Bus Campaign. It’s out on Oct 1st and all royalties are going to the HIV charity Terrence Higgins Trust. Please pre-order now:

The Atheist’s Guide is a mix of humorous and poignant contributions from over 40 various prominent atheists. It’ll make an ideal Christmas gift for your atheist friends. Your religious friends will love it too, or, even better, it’ll put them in a foul mood for Xmas! So a win-win situation! More info on the Facebook group:

Your support will not only maintain the profile of atheism in the UK, it will also help raise funds for the very worthy THT charity. Please note that the contributors, and Ms Sherine, have waived payment for their considerable input into the “Guide”.

Thank you, and please pass this message on to everyone you know!!

[My apologies if you already know about the Guide!]

    Peter Clarke Says:

Another US city with ads up celebrating atheism, reason and rationality is Las Vegas, NV. An interview with the person responsible in Las Vegas can be found at http://media.libsyn.com/media/ffrf/FTradio_183_102409.mp3, about 8’50” into the show.
There is an article on the signs in Las Vegas in the Las Vegas Review Journal titled “Message to the Masses” – search at http://www.lvrj.com or try http://www.lvrj.com/news/message-to-the-masses-63741367.html.
So far the “good christians” of that city have responded with death threats, or what I prefer to call “christian charity”.
